EuroSaver 1.4.0: price indicator shows at a glance whether a price is good Cover Image

Version 1.4.0 adds a new display that rates the current price straight away, along with corrections to price detection and shipping costs.

Price indicator

Above the price tag, a scale of euro symbols appears showing how the price in the current store compares with the other European stores. Fewer symbols and a greener colour mean a better deal.

DisplayMeaning
€€€€€The price is too high
€€€€The price is relatively high
€€€Average
€€Good value
Very good price

Hovering over the indicator shows the best and worst prices found plus where the current one sits. You can therefore tell without clicking whether the price bar is worth a closer look.

What the indicator does not show: shipping costs and the VAT adjustment, which only happens at checkout. It rates the product price, not the final price. The full breakdown appears in Amazon price comparison including shipping costs.

New website and blog

The website has been redesigned and now includes a blog with regular posts on comparing prices across the European Amazon stores. Release notes like this one appear there too.

Fixes

  • Price detection: in certain cases prices were not read correctly, which led to wrong comparison values.
  • Shipping costs: shipping costs were not consistently included in the overall display.
  • Performance: several optimisations, most noticeable on pages with many products.
